Description

The Avid BB7 MTN S is a mechanical disc brake caliper designed for mountain biking. This robust caliper is engineered to work with long cable-pull levers and features adjustable pad retraction and spring tension, allowing riders to fine-tune the braking feel to their preference.

It includes steel-backed organic pads known for providing a smooth and quiet braking experience. However, due to the specific design of the brake pad installation tabs, the caliper is not compatible with Centerlock or HSX rotors, which means it will require rotors that accommodate the six-bolt mounting standard.

The caliper is designed with a 74mm post mount pattern, and while it is ready to mount on most standard post mount setups, any necessary mounting adapters for different frame or fork configurations would need to be acquired separately.

The BB7 MTN S is celebrated for its reliability and ease of maintenance, making it a favored choice for mountain bikers who prefer the simplicity and direct control of cable-actuated systems. At a weight of 204 grams, it provides a lightweight yet effective braking solution without the added complexity of a hydraulic system. Rotor selection is left to the rider, allowing for customization based on the bike's intended use and rider's preference.
